Fossil Corals

These corals were part of ancient reefs in the South Pacific. Some of those reefs are now islands, and the coral mines are surprisingly inland, sometimes in the mountains. They are organic gemstones, and millions of years old. I have grouped them according to their different starburst patterns and colors, each of which is characteristic of a different species.
