Fancy Jasper and Bloodstone

Traditionally considered the birthstone for March, Bloodstone has its own religious symbolism–The specks and splashes of deep red found in the stone were said to have originated in the blood of Christ dripping from the cross to the ground below. A more prosaic explanation is that this deep green and teal jasper got its red colors from iron oxides. Either way you look at it, these pieces are some of the prettiest examples of this stone that I’ve seen. Fancy Jasper is closely related to Bloodstone, but has a wider variety of colors, including teals, yellows, pinks and blues. These pieces pulsate with deep, rich color–Magnificent!  Unless otherwise noted, these stones all have satin-finish backs.
