Agate Drusies

For the jeweler, agate and chalcedony are types of quartz–the same material that appears in two growth forms in these pieces: In the center as visible druzy crystals, and then in microcrystalline form that produces a smooth, highly polished agate surround. These are the easiest drusies to set because the agate has been cut into a beveled edge that makes bezel setting a snap. The polished agate is very hard and helps to protect the druzy crystals within.
