Chinese and Tibetan Turquoise

Chinese and Tibetan Turquoise are instantly recognizable due to their heavy black veins of iron, which usually create striking patterns. Tibetan Turquoise usually has more color variation, including shading of green or yellow. Chinese Turquoise is considered more valuable because its turquoise is a more consistent blue-green color, but some artists prefer the greater color variety of Tibetan. In either case, these turquoises have been the centerpieces of jewelry dating back centuries. All of these stones have been stabilized with clear shot, a polymer resin that strengthens the otherwise chalky interior of the stone. Clear shot adds no color; it simply deepens and enriches the color that's already there.
