Azurite

There’s no mistaking the vivid blues of Azurite–arguably the loveliest colors in the gem world. Azurite is found in areas where copper is mined; often intrepid individuals lease a small area within a large copper mine (after the copper has been excavated), and they search for copper-related minerals using hand tools or small motorized equipment. Often, azurite is found in non-gem condition, like some turquoise–chalky and crumbly in texture. But all the Azurite on this page is tough and beautiful.
